Have Faith in Faith; How My Belief in God Has Helped Me Succeed, And Yours Can Too!

Faith in God can be an invaluable asset to any successful business, we certainly believe that it is for us here at P45 Consultancy.

Having faith in God can help provide a sense of clarity and purpose to any business endeavour and it's that faith that played a huge part in giving me the strength, courage and determination in launching this one.

How My Faith & Belief Has Helped Me Succeed

Running a business of any size can be a challenging process. There's no denying that. It can be, at times, stressful, demanding, expensive and frustrating, but it's always an incredible journey. Like life itself.

For those who have been working with their faith in God for many years, the impact can be felt in many areas of their business, from partnerships and collaborations to their approach to business, discipline, ethics, vision, and prayer.

Speaking personally, my faith integrates itself into every aspect of my personal and business life, and I'm grateful for that every day.

It helps me to understand and appreciate that I'm on the right path, it lights my way in dark times and reminds me that I'm doing well, even when I think I'm not.

With that in mind, I wanted to share how faith has helped me succeed and how it can help you too, regardless of your religion. Let's start with...

Faith in Business

Even if you're running a business single-handedly, you're never really working in isolation. You've always got to deal with other people, but faith can help with those relationships.

If you have a team around you, then obviously you need to be a good leader and a good manager to get the best from them, but even as a sole trader, you're regularly leading from the front by speaking to clients, customers, suppliers, partners, collaborators and social media followers.

It's through these connections that faith can help you to lead the way in your business. By being the best 'you', faith allows you to bring the best out of others which can drive you to even greater success.

This deeper connection to God teaches you all the qualities you need to succeed in business including:

  • Integrity.

  • Humility.

  • Kindness.

  • Accountability.

  • Purpose.

  • Patience.

  • Resilience.

All qualities of any good leader or manager.

Outside of your immediate circle, those partnerships and collaborations are often also based on trust and a shared understanding. By having faith in God, individuals are able to trust in the rightness of their decisions and the timing of their actions.

This trust can be the foundation for deeper partnerships and collaborations that can make a huge difference in the success of any business.

Whilst not trying to convert anyone, having a positive influence on those around you allows you to build better relationships with them and allows you to serve them better.

This can provide a sense of clarity and purpose to any business endeavour and can help to produce more effective and valuable outcomes for the whole business.

As my business grows and new people come on board, I will be codifying my faith-based positions into P45's Mission Statement and passing on my beliefs to those who share my faith and my values as we grow this business together.

It's through this shared belief that I believe any business can and will succeed, including my own. I have faith in that for sure.

Faith in Discipline

Discipline is a key factor in any successful business, and faith in God can provide the strength and motivation to stay focused and disciplined when faced with any challenge.

By having faith in God, individuals can believe in the greater purpose at hand and remain focused on the long-term vision (but more on that later).

Discipline can help to keep individuals motivated and on-task, leading to more productive and successful outcomes, but it can also help you overcome the challenges you'll encounter when running a business.

Faith doesn't shield us against a harsh economy or even a global pandemic, but it does help us weather those storms.

For all of the decisions that you make in your business, few will be made lightly. We all have to make tough calls and sometimes upset those around us for the greater good.

There will be occasions when those decisions reverberate into other areas of your life and have real-world repercussions for you and may affect the livelihoods of other people, whether intentionally or not.

As people of faith, we are blessed to have empathy and we care for others, which can make these kinds of decisions even harder, especially when we can see the upset or frustration they may cause.

Emotions are a part of life, but we also need to be disciplined to be able to rise above them when necessary.

Being disciplined to know that you're making the right calls, answering the tough questions and moving forward, even when you feel lost takes faith in yourself and discipline to know that you're doing the best thing for your business. Stay strong, stay focused and let Him guide you.

Faith in Ethics

Ethics are an important part of any business, and having faith in God can help individuals to stay true to their morals and values.

This can help to ensure that businesses are run responsibly and ethically, providing a sense of integrity and respect.

Of course, morals and integrity aren't exclusive to any one religion, they're a cornerstone of almost all of them for a reason, and it's the same reason all successful businesses build them into their culture. They provide a 'true north' on which you can all work towards.

Not only will faith in ethical behaviour help others, it provides a real sense of accomplishment to you personally, knowing that you manage your business, however large or small, with sincerity.

That's not to say that sincerity can be easy to maintain. The business world at large can be a difficult field to navigate, but that's where faith in ethics really comes into its own.

Living in this cut-throat 'dog-eat-dog' world where everyone is always wanting to outdo everyone else can provide you with emotional challenges, but following your beliefs and living by the business morals and ethics that align with your own faith will help you succeed. This stops you from getting dragged down, so you can help others up.

Faith in Vision

Having faith in God can also help to shape your business’s vision. With faith in God, individuals can believe in the potential of their business and its future success.

This can provide a sense of focus and purpose to any business endeavour, helping to ensure that businesses are aiming for the right goals.

So far we've talked about how faith helps you in business, how it can help you ethically and the discipline it teaches you, but none of that will help if you don't have faith in your own vision and what you believe.

The approach to business can also be greatly impacted by having faith in God. With faith, individuals can focus on the long-term vision and aim to make decisions that best serve the greater good.

As a business owner, you're going to face lots of difficult decisions, cope with pressures often too great to fully understand and have life throw curve balls at you from every angle. There would be no shame in giving up when faced with it all, but it's your vision, or rather your faith in it, that will see you succeed, but it's not a given.

Even for those with the strongest faith, a business can fail, but that doesn't mean the end. If faith teaches us anything it's that a belief in a higher purpose means we're in safe hands.

Certainly, a failure in business, or life in general, can knock you to some degree, but we're often only looking at that negativity at a surface level when there's a greater plan at work that we're not privy to or yet understand.

The business world is a journey, but failure is just a small part of a larger success story that you're a key character in. Vision isn't only what you can see at this moment, there's so much more just waiting to happen just outside our viewpoint.

When life just wants to knock you down, standing up for what you believe and bringing your vision to reality, even in the darkest of times, genuinely strengthens your faith. Everyone can see that.

Faith in Prayer

Prayer can also be a key element to any successful business. By having faith in God, individuals can call upon God’s guidance and wisdom in any business endeavour.

This can help to provide clarity and direction when faced with difficult decisions or challenging moments.

Not only will prayer help you ease your mind and provide a moment to reflect in those moments, but following the teachings of the Bible and praying regularly can be a great source of inspiration to you.

Anyone will tell you that the inspiration and motivation you feel, whether from praying or not, is temporary, it's fleeting, but daily praying can give you that same inspiration constantly throughout the day.

Prayer works just as well whether you're doing it alone or with others, the inspiration you will all feel will help you and your business to succeed long into the future. Amen.

Conclusion

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6

As I hope I've demonstrated, having faith in God can provide individuals with direction and guidance. It can be the beacon we all need to shine down on us during the brightest of days and show us the way through the darkest of nights.

By having faith in God, individuals can believe that their decisions are being guided by a higher power and that the path they are taking is the right one, even if they don't always know the way or can see their destination.

A belief in God is a belief in success.
